New Orleans Saints Legend Tom Dempsey dies after fight with coronavirus

Tom Dempsey is dead. As a New Orleans Saints' kicker, he set an NFL record for longest field goal that stood for decades. Dempsey tested positive for the coronavirus last month. The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate says his family announced Dempsey's death Saturday. The 73-year-old Dempsey had been living at Lambeth House retirement home. He was also dealing with Alzheimer's disease. Dempsey kicked a 63 yard field goal in Tulane Stadium in 1970. It was the longest ever at the time.
