  • Yes, we must clean before we can cleanse"
Cleaning is an important first step because it physically removes dirt, organic matter and most germs from surfaces, but does not destroy some harmful germs that may remain. All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned before the DISINGERM disinfection and protection process starts. This ensures that germs are not hidden from the DISINGERMING process. Please see your Disingerm representativefor more information about our cleaning services
  • Disingerm™ Team will help you develop a soild plan
Yes, we have to clean before we install any Disingerm™ product and/or service. The very first thing we help new clients with is establishing a COVID-19 assessment and control plan. Below is a good start... General Guidance for All Workers and Employers For all workers, regardless of specific exposure risks, it is always a good practice to: Frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. When soap and running water are unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand rub with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands that are visibly soiled. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands. Practice good respiratory etiquette, including covering coughs and sneezes. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Stay home if sick. Recognize personal risk factors. According to U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), certain people, including older adults and those with underlying conditions such as heart or lung disease or diabetes, are at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19. We use the OSHA plan as guidance: https://www.osha.gov/SLTC/covid-19/controlprevention.html
  • What do I do before Disingerming takes place?
Bio-fogging as a highly effective weapon in our armoury of cleaning techniques. In the first instance, a thorough cleaning is required in advance of Disingerming or its impact could be curbed. The biocide vapours needs to make contact with the microorganisms on a surface to kill them. If dirt, debris wet patches or some other material are covering parts of a surface, then these areas may not be sanitised. The Disingerm fogging (Disingerming) is cost-effective as a sanitisation technique. Not only is it relatively quick, causing minimal disruption, the results are immediate and the benefits are potentially significant and long-lasting.
  • What's the Difference between Cleaning, Disinfecting, and Sanitizing?"
CLEANING Cleaning removes germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces or objects. Cleaning works by using soap (or detergent) and water to physically remove germs from surfaces. This process does not necessarily kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection. DISINFECTING Disinfecting a surface will “kill” the microscopic organisms as claimed on the label of a particular product. The minimum level of effectiveness in a modern-day disinfectant is 100 percent kill of 6 log10 of an organism. A sanitizer is only required to reduce that 6 log10 down to 3 Log10. If we start with 1 million organisms on a surface then a disinfectant must kill 100 percent of them; zero left. A sanitizer only reduces the number of organisms down to 1,000 and does nothing about viruses and fungus. SANITIZING Sanitizing is meant to reduce, not kill, the occurrence and growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. This is part of the process when cleaning your home but it doesn't solve the complete problem if you are trying to killing germs in your home or place of business and is why Disinfecting is needed in addition to saniti

  • What is Indoor Air Pollution?
Research indicates that people spend approximately 80 ~ 90 percent of their time indoors, where they are exposed to polluted indoor air that may cause irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and even lung cancer or other malignancies. Recent study reveals that bacteria, molds and house dust mites bred inside carpets and air conditioners can be airborne by dust particles, paints, varnishes, harmful chemical fibers and pressed wood products, which are most commonly used in household decoration, may emit formaldehyde, benzene and other hazardous and carcinogenic organic chemicals -- all these as well as unwholesome matters produced in the metabolism of human bodies and ammonia inside toilets have made the air within homes and other buildings more seriously polluted than the outdoor air. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ranks poor indoor air quality among the top five environmental risks to public health. Poorindoor air quality can cause or contribute to the development of chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and hypersensitivity pneumonitis. In addition, it can cause headaches, dry eyes, nasal congestion, nausea and fatigue. People who already have respiratory diseases are at greater risk.
  • What is Sick Building Syndrome?
The term " sick building syndrome " (SBS) is used to describe situations in which building occupants experience acute health and comfort effects that appear to be linked to time spent in a building, but no specific illness or cause can be identified. The following have been cited causes of or contributing factors to sick building syndrome: 1. Inadequate ventilation - In an effort to achieve acceptable Indoor Air Quality or IAQ while minimizing energy consumption, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recently revised its ventilation standard to provide a minimum of 15 cfm of outdoor air per person (20 cfm/person in office spaces). Up to 60 cfm/person may be required in some spaces (such as smoking lounges) depending on the activities that normally occur in that space. 2. Chemical contaminants from indoors sources - Most indoor air pollution comes from sources inside the building. For example, adhesives, carpeting, upholstery, manufactured wood products, copy machines, pesticides, and cleaning agents may emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including formaldehyde. Environmental tobacco smoke contributes high levels of VOCs, other toxic compounds, and repairable particulate matter. Research shows that some VOCs can cause chronic and acute health effects at high concentrations, and some are known carcinogens. Low to moderate levels of multiple VOCs may also produce acute reactions. Combustion products such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, as well as respirable particles, can come from unvented kerosene and gas space heaters, wood stoves, fireplaces and gas stoves. 3. Chemical contaminants from outdoor sources - The outdoor air that enters a building can be a source of indoor air pollution. For example, pollutants from motor vehicle exhausts; plumbing vents, and building exhausts (e.g., bathrooms and kitchens) can enter the building through poorly located air intake vents, windows, and other openings. In addition, combustion products can enter a building from a nearby garage. 4. Biological contaminants - Bacteria, molds, pollen, and viruses are types of biological contaminants. These contaminants may breed in stagnant water that has accumulated in ducts, humidifiers and drain pans, or where water has collected on ceiling tiles, carpeting, or insulation. Physical symptoms related to biological contamination include cough, chest tightness, fever, chills, muscle aches, and allergic responses such as mucous membrane irritation and upper respiratory congestion.

  • UVC - Ultraviolet Disinfecting Process & Procedures
On 6/04/2020 we recruited UVC light specialist Mr. Robert Martinez to join the Disingerm team. Mr. Martinez now leads the Disingerm UV-C service, in which his team of trained professionals come in after our fogging service is complete and the room has been cleared as safe to enter. Mr. Martinez then delivers a calculated dose of UV-C energy to the Disingerm-treated area. Using a patent-pending technology, our devices measure the efficiency of the emitter output to achieve a lethal level of germ-killing ultraviolet C to the area. We place the UV-C device in the room and start treatment with a timer and without any complicated remote pairing. Multiple safety features ensure safe and reliable UV-C decontamination treatments every time. With 2,340 watts of UV-C output, this allows the Disingerm machine designed by Martinez to decontaminate large areas in less time. More power equals a more efficient reduction of microorganisms at further distances from the UV-C source. We do not sell any of our products to the general public. Only trained agents are allowed to use any and all Disingerm products. If you are interested and have 30 days to prepare, we can get you trained and ready to properly disinfect and protect businesses.
  • What's the difference between UVA, UVB and UVC?"
The three types of UV radiation are classified according to their wavelength. They differ in their biological activity and the extent to which they can penetrate the skin. The shorter the wavelength, the more harmful the UV radiation. However, shorter wavelength UV radiation is less able to penetrate the skin. Short-wavelength UVC is the most damaging type of UV radiation. However, it is completely filtered by the atmosphere and does not reach the earth's surface. Medium-wavelength UVB is very biologically active but cannot penetrate beyond the superficial skin layers. It is responsible for delayed tanning and burning; in addition to these short-term effects it enhances skin ageing and significantly promotes the development of skin cancer. Most solar UVB is filtered by the atmosphere. The relatively long-wavelength UVA accounts for approximately 95 per cent of the UV radiation reaching the Earth's surface. It can penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and is responsible for the immediate tanning effect. Furthermore, it also contributes to skin ageing and wrinkling. For a long time it was thought that UVA could not cause any lasting damage. Recent studies strongly suggest that it may also enhance the development of skin cancers.
  • Can FN Coating FN2 help fight COVID-19?
Can FN Coating FN2 help fight COVID-19? By coating the walls and ceilings with FN® functional coatings, you will provide highly effective protection against germs (viruses and bacteria), including coronavirus Covid-19. Thanks to its microstructure, the created coating layer (also called FN-NANO® technology) effectively captures airborne viruses and bacteria on its surface and subsequently eliminates them very effectively. It also cleans the air in the room. In this way, the protection of people in the room against transmission of viral and bacterial infections, including coronavirus Covid-19, can be effectively and long-term (5 years). ROTECTION AGAINST COVID-19 AND OTHER VIRUS AND BACTERIAL INFECTIONS USING FN® PRODUCTS FN NANO functional coatings (FN®1, FN®2, FN®3) exhibit extremely strong physical photocatalytic antimicrobial function. However, this function is only provided that the coating layer they produce is exposed to a sufficient quantity (at least 20µW / cm2) of ultraviolet radiation (in daylight or from an artificial source). Functional coatings FN®2 and FN®3 have the highest photocatalytic efficiency in air purification We therefore recommend their use in interiors wherever we want not only to provide antimicrobial protection, but also to purify air from harmful substances and odors. Disclaimer: We are not an EPA registered disinfectant, as we do not use any chemicals to fall into the category of EPA required registration. Therefore we cannot make “kill claims”. HIGH ANTIMICROBIAL EFFECTIVENESS Tests of the Czech National Institute of Public Health on model microorganism E.Coli. This microorganism is used to test efficacy against all types of viruses: Physical antimicrobial mechanism of photocatalysis – reduction of microorganism concentration by 4 log. 1 hour when exposed to UV light (all types of functional coatings FN®). Ensure effectiveness against viruses. COMPLIANCE WITH LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENTS Functional coatings FN® meet all legislative, technical and hygienic requirements of the United States. Their antimicrobial and other manufacturer-reported features are verified by independent testing by government and research institutions. CERTIFICATION OF PHOTOCATALYTICAL FUNCTIONALITY AND EFFICIENCY FN® functional coatings are certified for the effectiveness of their physical-photocatalytic functions. • The Science behind the Disingerm™ solutions
Titanium dioxide as a photocatalysis was discovered in 1972. Chlorine Dioxide in an antimicrobial was discovered in 1814. Thymol was first isolated by the German chemist Caspar Neumann in 1719. Thymol was first synthesized by the Swedish chemist Oskar Widman in 1882. Since these dates there have been thousands of studies done on the efficacy of each of these products. Titanium Dioxide as a self-cleaning self-disinfecting material is not in question in the scientific community. Its properties are accepted as fact do to the overwhelming quantity of tests and repeated positive results. Chlorine Dioxide is a registered component that, when used over 5%, is proven to inactivate Viruses and other pathogens. Chlorine Dioxide has been tested repeatedly, including by the EPA. Its Antimicrobial properties are also accepted as fact in the scientific community.
  • What is Zinc Oxide? (ZnO)
Zinc oxide (ZnO) is made using zinc, a critical mineral element used to keep humans healthy and found in many multivitamins. ZnO occurs naturally in the mineral zincite, but most of the commercial products are made by the high-temperature oxidation of zinc ore, which is melted then vaporized into a gas where it reacts with oxygen to form solid ZnO. Zinc oxide is an inorganic compound and is insoluble in water. It has antimicrobial properties that help wounds heal more quickly, and it is non-comedogenic — i.e. it’s oil-free and won’t clog pores. Non-nano zinc oxide is highly stable under most conditions, including when hit with UV rays. It absorbs UV energy via bandgap absorption (it reflects and scatters visible light, that’s why it looks white), preventing skin penetration and cell damage. Zinc oxide holds tight to its electrons when it absorbs UV energy, limiting the creation of free radicals that cause oxidative damage or increase the risk of skin cancer.
  • What is Titanium dioxide (TiO2)
Titanium dioxide, also known as titania, is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium, chemical formula TiO2. Approved by the food testing laboratory of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Titanium Dioxide is considered a safe substance and harmless to humans. It is commonly used in paint, printing ink, plastics, paper, synthetic fibers, rubber, condensers, painting colors and crayons, ceramics, electronic components along with food and cosmetics. Many studies have been published on the use of titanium dioxide as a photocatalyst for the decomposition of organic compounds. After illuminated by light, titanium dioxide produces hydroxyl radicals, which react with any toxic organic matter in the air to form non-toxic inorganic matter.
  • What are the benefits of photocatalyst treatments?
Hydroxyl radicals are among the strongest oxidizing agents, even stronger than pure alcohol, chlorine, ozone, and peroxide. They act as very powerful fighting agents by oxidizing the cells of microorganisms, causing rupture and leakage of vital composition. Sterilization, Anti-Bacterial and Mold Preventing: Nano photocatalyst titanium dioxide has strong oxidation affects to single-celled organism that includes all bacteria, virsuses and fungus. The very strong oxidizing power of Titanium Dioxide can destroy bacteria's cell membrane, causing leakage of the cytoplasm, which inhibits bacteria's activity and ultimately results in the death and decomposition of bacteria. Generally speaking, disinfections by titanium oxide are three times stronger than chlorination, and 1.5 times stronger than ozone.
  • How long does  photocatalyst treatment last after application?
Since photocatalyst TiO2 is only acting as semi-conductor catalyst, it is not consumed during the oxidation process, therefore, completing a long lasting oxidation cycle. The Barrier coating for Disingerm can last up to 90 days but we recommend treatment every 30 days.
  • What effects does photocatalyst treatment have?
The technolgy uses a novel phenomenon on the photocatalyst. That is, when the surface of the photocatalytic film is exposed to light, the contact angle of the photocatalyst surface with water is reduced gradually. After enough exposure to light, the surface reaches super-hydrophilicity. In other words, it does not repel water at all, so the water cannot exist in the shape of a drop, but spreads flatly on the surface of the photocatalyst . Photo-catalytic super-hydrophilicity is important technology, because it has wider applications, including anti-fogging, self-cleaning properties, sterilization, deodorization, antifouling and removal of pollutants can be achieved. UV rays are part of sunlight and fluorescent light, no special operating costs are required and the reaction can be maintained semi-permanently. Moreover, PŪRWorld’s photocatalyst contains no volatile organic compound's (VOC's) and is neutral pH. This supports government's Green House theory to help create a safe, low VOC emmiting, and energy saving house.
  • What is photocatalytic?
When a photocatalyst titanium dioxide (TiO2) captures light either from sun or fluorescent lighting, it forms activated oxygen from water and oxygen in the air. This process is similar to photosynthesis, in which chlorophyll captures sunlight to turn water and carbon dioxide into oxygen and glucose. The formed activated oxygen is strong enough to oxidize and decompose organic materials, smelling gas, and kill bacteria.
  • Why does photocatalyst treatment last?
Although it is originally water-soluble, it dries quickly after application and becomes water-insoluble. It also becomes as hard as a 4H pencil in ten to fourteen days after application. It does not come off unless the surface is cleaned with active abrasion. Even a bathroom can be used immediately after application. Because titanium oxide is merely the catalyst and is not changed, its effect is semi-permanent except when walls and ceilings are repainted.
  • Is photocatalyst treatment safe?
Yes , there is no harm of direct touching the material or having direct contact with it after its drying time. The material is totally safe and the titanium dioxide used is FDA approved.
  • Can the photocatalyst coating be easily removed?
After drying, photocatalyst forms a very solid film that can't be wiped off unless strong abrasion is used.
  • What factors may influence the efficiency of photocatalyst treatment?
Light and airflow will have a remarkable influence over the reaction of the photocatalyst. Both factors are needed to maintain the coating effectiveness all the time. From that, the better airflow you have (air circulation which can be obtained by using an ordinary fan or the normal air movement from air conditioner ducts) and the longer light times, the better the results of the coating will be achieved.
  • Researched Facts From Doctors
The Virus was shown to live for up to 17 days on surfaces on the Diamond Princess after Passengers had departed. This is an extremely long time for a Virus. (Published by the CDC) The Virus is an enveloped virus, like the H1N1 Flu. This is good news as it relates to our ability to combat it. Un-enveloped Viruses like Polio are much more difficult to kill on surfaces. Ref. (Pharmacal Research Laboratories, INC.) The first is one of many articles that specifically references multiple studies to determine that Chlorine Dioxide Deactivates (Scientific term for Destroys) Viruses. Ref. (Universal Medical Imaging Group, USA) The second article also clearly states (99.9%) the efficacy of ClO2 as an antiviral agent. Ref. (The Open Antimicrobial Agents Journal) The next study is one of many Studies that reference multiple tests on the Photocatalytic Self-cleaning activity of Titanium Dioxide. This includes Biocide Efficacy (Destroying) Drug resistant bacteria and Viruses (Enveloped and Non-enveloped). (The many Doctors that participated in this study are listed below the study. This final study is by one of the most famous anti-microbial doctors. Dr. Gerba. C.P. “Titanium Dioxide is unique in that it is not consumed in the Photocatalytic reaction”. Reference: Gerba C.P. (2013) Titanium Dioxide as Disinfectant. In: Kretsinger R.H., Uversky V.N., Permyakov E.A. (eds) Encyclopedia of Metalloproteins. Springer, New York, NY… More References from Dr. Gerba: https://www.sciencedirect.com/book/9780128147191/environmental-and-pollution-science This is important due to the fact that Titanium Dioxide, and thus our Products stand alone in the industry as the only product that can honestly say it works over time. Our products are the only ones that we can confidently suggest that our clients provide to their customers in these troubled times. Our cleansing process follows the disinfection guidelines of the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/infectioncontrol/pdf/guidelines/disinfection-guidelines-H.pdf
  • Why does Disingerm™ use foggers?
Fogging produces a fine mist that remains suspended in the air long enough to kill airborne viruses and bacteria. It also eliminates pathogens on surfaces, including ceilings, walls, furniture and floors. It can disinfectant nooks and crannies and areas that may be difficult to clean otherwise. In most cases it’s not necessary to move furniture before or during the cleaning process. An advantage with fogging is that the sanitising agent reaches areas that may be difficult to clean with other techniques. Penetration into some nooks and crannies may be limited by obstacles, but in most cases it’s not necessary to move furniture or equipment around before or during the cleaning process. Whereas previously, the chemicals used in fogging could adversely affect materials such as plastic, fabrics and metal – causing corrosion over time – this is no longer a concern. Is fogging practicable and safe? The fogging process is rapid and efficient. FMs will probably be aware that formerly, an area might be sealed off for days at a time for fogging. Now sanitisation takes a matter of minutes. To avoid disruption and risk of allergic reactions, areas do need to be clear of people. So it should be done outside of working or opening hours, overnight for example. While the biocide is not toxic, there is always a risk of allergic or other reactions for those present during the fogging operation. A responsible contractor will ensure staff wear the recommended PPE for the agent used. We favour a water-based anti-microbial that is non-hazardous, clear and odourless, non-corrosive, harmless to the environment and requires no rinsing. No special requirements apply either for protection against spillages or during handling or storage. But can it still be effective? An effective biocide will target a wide spectrum of microbes and the results of testing bear out the claims that chemical fogging is capable of eliminating all pathogens. For example, we recommend a solution using four different biocides so that a bacterium with resistance to one agent will be eliminated by the others. This biocide is effective against a wide range of microbes, including E. coli, MRSA, C. difficile, listeria, salmonella and Legionella pneumophilia. Of course, the mist must reach the target areas and in sufficient quantities to sterilise surfaces. Evidence strips are used for this purpose. And the evidence from our monitoring is that fogging gets to work immediately and the benefits are surprisingly enduring. Here is the equipment we use and endorse
